The playoffs are just around the corner and the Eastern Conference has gotten as competitive as it’s ever been. Judging from the regular season, the defending Eastern Conference Champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, have to contend with the depth of the Toronto Raptors and the never-say-die young stallions of the Boston Celtics.

Let’s take a closer look at the Boston Celtics’ chances.
Before the season started, the Celtics acquired Kyrie Irving in a move that sent a lot of the team’s core to the Cavs. The move paid off as the C’s let go of Isaiah Thomas, who was nursing an injury and got one of the top point guards in the league in Irving. The C’s also had Gordon Hayward and Al Horford to support Irving.
However, the season couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start as Hayward sustained a season-ending injury in the first game.
But that didn’t stop Brad Stevens, the genius coach (who should probably win Coach of the Year), from coming up with several backup plans.
But how do they match up against the giants of the Eastern Conference come playoffs?
Irving was be looking to be back to lead the squad, but was notified that he will be out for the season. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, alongside the likes of Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Marcus Morris will have come into their own this season and turned a hobbling Celtics into the most impressive team of the season. It’s just a matter of sustaining the momentum into the post-season.
